Jiuzhaigou National Park: Five-Color Pond; Sichuan province, China

Five-Color Pond (五彩池, Wǔcǎi Chí) is smaller than most other bodies of water in Jiuzhaigou, but its colors are perhaps the brightest. It is in the Zechawa Valley, which overall is not quite as scenic but rises to a higher elevation (nearly 10,000 feet above sea level) than the nearby Rize Valley. It is legend that this pond is where a Chinese goddess came to wash her hair, while another Chinese god brought her water. I’m not sure why you would bring water to a pond.
