OK, so it’s more like $9,250 USD, but that’s still expensive for a jar of fungus (98 grams). Caterpillar fungus is believed by practitioners of Eastern medicine to have medicinal qualities. I believe most of it is harvested in Tibet. There are much cheaper varieties available (e.g. 350 RMB vs. 58,000 RMB), and I’m not quite sure what makes this particular batch so exclusive.
