|London at night, somewhere near Brick Lane.|
On my final night in London, I finally made it to the East End, and specifically Brick Lane, land of Bangladeshi curry houses. The food was amazing, but my favorite part of the meal was when my friend Diana, a Bulgarian and Russian nanny who lives in London, realized that the free beers we had been offered to entice us to choose this particular curry house were 250ml beers. In her choppy English, she asked, a few times, somewhat distraught, "Where is the rest of the beer?" Eventually we ordered proper beers, and then proceeded to eat our weights in curry.
|Diana, upset because the beers were too small.|
