Village of long-haired women in China

China's Huangluo Yao minority village is known for its women, who cut their hair only once in their lifetimes, when they are married, before which and after which the hair remains untouched.

They are also known for their love of singing and dancing.

Below are some excerpts from the traditional Yao performances that I saw yesterday. Most of the time the Huangluo Yao women keep their long hair, which can reach lengths of nearly seven feet, wrapped up in a bun, but for a few coins or a small bill they'll drop their locks in a hurry.
