Buryat prayer flags on Olkhon Island in Lake Baikal

These prayer flags are probably Shamanist.

Shamanism is the major religion of the Buryats, the largest ethnic minority in Siberia and the bulk of the population on Olkhon Island. The island is more than four times the geographical size of San Francisco but has less than two-tenths of one-percent of its population.

I took on the western edge of Khuzhir, the primary village on Olkhon Island. The frozen body of water in the background is Lake Baikal. Beyond that is the mainland of Russia.
