Nagasaki Lantern Festival; Nagasaki, Japan

By chance I visited Nagasaki yesterday during its Lantern Festival. The bridges and waterways were lined with beautiful Japanese lanterns and larger-than-lifesize origami-like animals, especially one bridge in particular, allegedly Nagasaki`s most photographed: Spectacles Bridge, so named because its arches and their reflections on the water resemble eyeglasses.

I also visited Sofukuji Temple, one of Japan`s oldest Chinese-style temples, built in 1629 for Chinese worshippers living in Japan. Its architectural style remains rare in Japan.
