National Taiwan University of the Arts

National Taiwan University of the Arts is the oldest art university in Taiwan. Its most famous alumni are film directors Ang Lee, Hou Hsiao-hsien, and the late Ko Chun-hsiung. The school was opened in 1955 and was originally known as the National School of Arts, and later the National Academy of Arts, and then the National College of Arts, before taking its current name. Yi-Lan, who graduated from the university and studied sculpture, gave me a tour before we visited a nearby middle school.
