The Phoenix a.k.a. Maria Victoria

One of my favorite things about living in Central America is seeing familiar faces in nearby countries. I've gotten to know Belize and especially Guatemala and western Honduras pretty well.

We visited Livingston to see if we could find Moncho, a friend from the island whom I'd stumbled across in Livingston twice previously. Took an hour or two, but we found him, just in time for the rain to pour. He's been living in this coastal Garifuna town for a couple of months, breathing life into a dead boat.

Moncho gives Holly the rundown on his restoration project. This boat is slated for Roatán.

See those guys shoveling dirt out of that boat that's little more than a shell of its former self? That would've happened to Maria Victoria had Moncho not purchased it. It would've hauled supplies to and from Livingston or Honduras or wherever.
